Se quejaba de que aprendían cómo expresar palabras en términos de otras palabras, pero realmente no entendían nada y no sentían ninguna motivación por los fenómenos reales que supuestamente estudiaban. Para Feynman, entender significaba ser capaz de aplicar el propio conocimiento a nuevas situaciones.
