John 12:32. Reading it again, Jesus says: And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.
Note: Misused all the time. I didn't realize it refers to the crucifixion until I read this... doh.

it is always important to let Scripture interpret Scripture. In this case it teaches us that a surface reading of a text may not mean what we think it means if it cannot be corroborated anywhere else in the Bible. This should raise a red flag of caution for us.

1Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2As people moved eastward,[49] they found a plain in Shinar[50] and settled there. 3They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
