    So, what is it that creates evil? It is when I shut the door on the Source of life. When I shut the door on God, when I shut my heart on God, then evil develops because the source of virtue, the source of righteousness, the source of holiness, is cut off. By my shutting the door on Him, I have created something alien to Him, something that will be my destruction.

    Christians are the people whose basic philosophy justifies study. We were made to discover the world that God has given to us. We are pioneers by design. If we choose to see ourselves in that light, our approach to all of life will be different.

    The things in our lives that seem to be God’s restrictions to keep us from what we want are really his loving hedges to protect us from throwing ourselves into the murky, slimy waters of sin. Let us not resist his attempt to protect us and keep us for that which is beautiful, clean, and pure.

    There is no question as to whether God is all powerful or whether salvation is always the work of God alone. Only he can save. However, the reality is that when he moves to save us mortals, he reaches out for one of us to work with him in that redemptive process.

    It is necessary for every individual in every successive generation to see the work of God personally. Each of us must come to a meeting with God in which we enter into a covenant relationship with Yahweh. Therefore the word to us is still: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.”
