  • Tim shared from Heir of Novron (Riyria Revelations box set Book 3) by Michael J. Sullivan
Four patrols of eight men circled the streets. At least one group checked in at each square every hour. They were swift and harsh in their peacekeeping. Dressed in mail and carrying heavy weapons, they brutally beat and dragged away anyone causing a nuisance or being accused of a crime. They did not bother to hear the suspect’s side of the story. They did not care who had trespassed on whom, or whether the accusation was truth or fiction. Their goal was order, not justice.
    Note: okay narrative summary?

No one was running suppressed for this mission—there was no need. The helicopter noise eliminated that possibility. Doc took down four more with his carbine, leaving two. He slung the M-4 over his back and reached for the pneumatic net gun, ensuring the capture net was properly loaded and positioned on the gun. Both Doc and Billy shot at the same time. Billy took out the creature that was closing on Doc, and Doc netted his target specimen. Mission accomplished, almost.

    51. The story of Galaphile and the establishment of the First Druid Council is a tale for which fans have asked for over three decades. I do plan to write this story in the future.
Note: How do you leave space 2 jump back & forth w/o new stuff contradicting what youve already published?

Another person hardly mattered. Sure, the strain of shifting three people across the island was considerable, but nothing Villeen couldn't handle—her power continued to grow. She uncoiled a thread of gentahl and thrust it into their minds.
Note: D.T. Conklin's magic system is as alive and unpredictable as the characters who wield it.

And sometimes I fight because I’m no good at anything else so everything becomes a war.”
Note: good encapsulation of Stan's story and an interesting addition to the Subterenne War trilogy

I shook my head. “Thailand will fall in a week if they cross the border. You don’t need me; you need an army.”
    Note: my kind of story

“Stan!” she screamed. But I was past the point of recognizing my name, and she just didn’t get it: there was no Stan.
Note: wow. killer start to Chimera. I knew this was going to be good but its nice to discover how so soon.

Popov wasn’t fighting us; he was fighting me.
