A “power score” can be constructed using this idea. The score has two aspects. Betweenness calculates the extent that the position falls on the shortest paths (the geodesic) between other pairs of actors in the network; that is, to get from one part of the organization to another, one has to go through that position. Next, and similar to betweeness, is closeness or distance of each position or node; that is, how near or far a given node or position is from all the other nodes in the figure.
