9The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11†He came to his own, [2] and his own people [3] did not receive him. 12‡But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Note: The world did not know him. people by default do not know Jesus, we are sinful fallen rebellious and ignorant of God.
Note: God lived with us, though he had creator rights, he chose to live in creation, for a time, even s a created being, flesh and bone,
“Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”]]
Note: Why we should never and could never condemn anyone if we call Jesus our God.
4†And while staying [1] with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5†for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with [2] the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Note: Joel 2, Ezekiel 47
36†For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
Note: God is the original source of all things. All things are from him
Note: God is not distantly, uninvolved in the act of creation. Through, reminds us of Gods Intentional involvement in the distribution of all things.
Note: Not only is God the source, but he is the fulfillment of all things. All things point towards God and ultimately did their end in him.
