Many of us consider ourselves experts in our craft and so we estimate based on our memory. We remember how long it took us to perform a task and plug that estimation into our plan. Educated guesswork is no substitute for thoughtful observation. Estimates often project our dreams, rather than reflect our reality.

I’m probably going to let those obligations accumulate until the last responsible minute (or slightly after), complaining the entire time. So on my Personal Kanban I assign such loathsome tasks bright orange sticky notes.
Sequester them in a dedicated area of your Personal Kanban. When a task is complete, simply check that day’s box.
